2023-2024 BPF Scholarship Programs

BPF has three scholarship programs – Silent Partner Scholarship, BPF Scholars Program and the Michael F. Conners Founding President Scholarship (awarded as part of the BPF Scholars Program).

Our Silent Partner Scholarship program is one part of BPF’s commitment to providing support to the families of fallen Border Patrol Agents. Our Silent Partner Scholarships are for all children of fallen Border Patrol Agents and awarded when the children of fallen Agents become graduating high school seniors, as well as for children of fallen Agents already enrolled in a post-high school institution.  Children of fallen Border Patrol Agents are currently eligible to receive up to $25K in scholarship assistance over a four-year period to a college, university, or trade school of their choice.

Separately, the BPF Scholars Program awards scholarship assistance on a competitive basis to the children of active duty and retired Border Patrol Agents, USBP support personnel, and active participants in the USBP Explorer program sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America.

Eligible applicants shall have graduated or be graduating from high school (or its equivalent) within 12-months of application for the scholarship. Applications from those who have previously applied and not received a scholarship will be accepted if they meet the 12-month eligibility requirement.

Determinations for scholarship awards will be made on the basis of merit—the number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the funding available and the number of qualified applicants. All qualifying applications will be reviewed and forwarded to a panel of three (3) or more qualified volunteers who will review the applications and select the scholarship recipients.

Essays of 400-600 words must be written by the applicant and will become the property of Border Patrol Foundation and may be published on the BPF website.  Scholarship awards are distributed prior to the immediate Fall semester for enrolled full-time student awardees and sent directly to the accredited college, university, or trade school.

Thanks to the generosity of BPF founding President, Mike Conners, starting in 2022 the BPF Scholars Program now offers the Michael F. Conners Founding President Scholarship (MFC Scholarship).  This scholarship award will be a one-time $1,000 awarded on the basis of the best essay submitted by applicants for the BPF Scholars Program.  The winning essay will be selected from the applications by the volunteer panel.  The $1,000 award will go directly to the awardee to assist with preparations for post-secondary education and are to be used by the student as needed.

Online applications must be submitted no later than midnight EST on April 8, 2024.

Awards will be announced in June 2024.
